Remember about a month ago I wrote about oil could be made from dinosaur juice? Well now it’s time to touch on how to find the oil. First you either need to be or know a geologist. A geologist is a scientist who studies the liquid and solids which have formed the earth. Now comes the fun part. The tools which are needed are a whole lot of money, topographical maps, aerial views, 3 D projections, sniffers which sniff out hydrocarbons and then doing a seismic test with either a compressed air gun for water, a thumper truck striking the land or explosives which are drilled into the earth or thrown over the edge of the ship into the water . Once the detention happens the shock waves hit rock and they are measured in the speed in which they returned. Once the waves have been looked over, GPS coordinates are recorded for the possible oil strike.

The methods which are used now are much more advanced then when oil drilling become popular 150 years ago. In the beginning stages there were many wells which came up dry all the effort and money put into that well was lost.
